Introduction

Bessemer Steel Converter
Steel has lead to inventions of sturdier products and single-handedly sparked the industrial revolution, giving jobs to countless people. This glorious metal is not found in the earth but was created by man.  That man was Sir Henry Bessemer, inventor of the Bessemer steel process.

Iron was a necessary part of the 19th century. It was used in transportation, buildings, household products, and in almost every job in the manufacturing industry. When Henry Bessemer changed iron into steel in 1860, he changed the way the world manufactured goods. As a result automobiles were built to withstand, buildings were made to uphold more, and weapons were made to be more effective.

“What I desired to achieve was the production, at a small cost.”
 Sir Henry Bessemer
